UMAGE

Søren Ravn Christensen founded Vita Copenhagen (which would later become Umage) in 2008, after accidentally discovering one of his father's lamps in a vintage shop. From then on, his goal has been to create timeless designs that last forever - something Umage has mastered with designs that break the mold.

The company became famous in 2010 with the Silvia pendant lamp, which resembles a huge pinecone. In 2012 Umage launched the Eos light fixtures made of real feathers. Today the Eos collection has become a design classic and is one of the best-known products by Umage.

In 2018 the brand stepped into a new chapter when it officially switched the name from Vita Copenhagen to Umage. This year the brand also started offering furniture and home accessories in addition to lighting products.

Nature creates a feeling of ease, a feeling of tranquillity, and accommodating color palettes, shapes, and patterns that are divine. Umage feels they have a responsibility to be frontrunners by setting a standard on how furniture and design company approach this issue by:

1. Working with NGO's - Umage has made a collaboration with such organizations as One Tree Planted, so every time one of their designs made from wood is sold, they are planting a tree.
2. Durable quality materials - By choosing the highest quality materials, Umage ensures their designs last a lifetime.
3. Interchangable elements -Umage has created their products with interchangeability in mind, so, for example, if some time down to line you wish to change the leather in your dining chairs to velour, you can do that without in a couple of minutes. This means that you can add new life to the design and your interior without having to buy an entirely new furniture piece, saving the world's resources.
4. Responsible materials - By using 100% recycled textiles, leather with Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification and Goose feathers with RDS licensing, you can rest assured that your Umage product is made with the environment in mind
5. Flat-pack packaging - To minimise the packaging waste, Umage has devised a new packaging concept that insures all items are packaged as compactly as possible. They also make sure that repurposing the packaging to be used as beautiful storage boxes afterwards is simple and easy.
6. Recycling - All designs can be separated into key elements for recycling, and worn parts can be replaced, to extend the life of the designs.

The brand acknowledges that selling furniture and lighting can never be 100% sustainable, but Umage strives to become an industry leader in sustainability.

With its vast lighting and Furniture offering, Umage has developed many best-sellers over the years such as the EOS Collection, Asteria series and the Silvia lighting range.
