The Pearl Pendant is a sculptural and elegant suspension light created by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl for 101 Copenhagen. Pearl is inspired by Japanese lanterns. It features a central opal glass light source, surrounded by an adjustable metal shade: the lantern shaped light source made in opal glass is semi hidden behind a flexible metal screen. The flexible perforated screen filters the light and can be turned around to create specific and unique effects.
The lampshades are mounted to an elegantly constructed metal frame, adding a certain lightness to the lamp. Thanks to its adjustable shade, the Pearl can provide countless variations of light, making this pendant easily adaptable to any room. The Pearl light is suitable for both residential and commercial spaces, for example in living rooms, dining rooms, hotel suites, restaurants and bars.

Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl
Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl began their creative partnership in 2015, blending Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian design principles. Hansen, trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the Kyoto Institute of Technology, brings a refined understanding of traditional design practices, complemented by innovative production techniques. Hyldahl, with extensive experience and a deep appreciation for Asian aesthetics, contributes a unique perspective that enhances their work’s sense of harmony and clarity. Together, they have created notable pieces that reflect a balance between clean lines, functional elegance, and timeless forms. Inspired by mid-century design and modernist icons, their collaborations result in furniture and lighting that resonate with both Eastern and Western aesthetics, merging simplicity with warmth in each piece. Their designs are characterized by a subtle elegance, emphasizing craftsmanship and a seamless fusion of cultural influences.
